Information We Collect From You
Geolocation Data. We ask you to share your location information from your mobile device and/or computer. We may determine location based on the location services of the applicable operating system or browser and information on nearby Wi-Fi- access points and cell towers. If you choose not to share your location information, the Services will not function. You can revoke your consent by changing the settings or preferences on your device and/or computer or by deleting Whistle from your device.
Your Content and Usage. We collect any content you submit to the Services, information about the content, such as when you submitted it, and any metadata that is provided with the content.
Telephone Number. We may ask you to provide and verify your telephone number when you first launch the App. Additionally, this process may be triggered if you want to post content, share content or if we suspect improper activity on your account. It may also be triggered if you log in to a Site so that we can connect your Site usage with your App usage.
Other Information you Provide to Us. When you interact with our Services or otherwise communicate with InHerSight and Whistle in any way, we will collect the information you choose to share with us.
Information We Collect Automatically. We may automatically collect information about your use of the Services such as: access time, device ID, application ID or other unique identifier; domain name, IP address, screen views; geo-location data (with your permission); language information; device name and model; operating system information; your activities within the Services; and the length of time that you are logged in. We may combine this information with other information that we have collected about you.
Social Media Sites. You can like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and promote us on other social media sites. We collect information about who has liked us or followed us. You may also share whistles through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media accounts. And, you may add select links to your profile.
In addition to any information you submit, we may also passively collect information as you use the Site, including your internet protocol (IP) address and the browser that you use to visit the Site. InHerSight also stores a small text file called a “Cookie” on your computer to store your login information (if any) and your personal preferences. InHerSight may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them). While you will still be able to use the Services if you disable Cookies in your browser, certain parts of the Services may not function as effectively. After you register and enable Cookies, we may associate this information with Personal Information that we have collected from you.
We may also use tiny electronic images (called "single-pixel GIFs" or "Web beacons") to count users, determine aggregate information about users, including demographic and usage information, determine which email messages were opened and acted on when we send HTML-formatted email messages. Our Web beacons do not collect personally identifiable information and you can disable them by turning images off in your email client.
Any information contained in and/or attached to any e-mails, text message, or forms that you send us will also be collected. Any feedback you provide about the Site or the Services to us may be used and disclosed for any purpose, provided we do not associate such feedback with your Personal Information.
How We Use the Information We Collect
In general, information you submit to us is used by us to provide and operate the Services, respond to requests that you make, to improve our Services and to better tailor the features and support of Services.
One of the purposes of the Services is to aggregate and share sexism-related information with other Users. Therefore, you should assume that any information (excluding any personally identifiable information) that you submit will be anonymized, aggregated, and made available to other Users of the Services, published and made availble to Users on InHerSight.com (the “Site”), more widely shared via articles and content published by Third Parties. In the event that we provide you with the ability to anonymously post certain comments, we will not include anything personally identifiable with those comments on the App or on the Site. However, you should know that our internal records may associate your contact information with such comments.
We may also use your Personal Information to provide you with announcements, notifications related to the Services we provide, and other communications such as electronic newsletters, promotional e-mails or similar messaging.
We may also conduct research on our users’ demographics and behavior based on the information you provide us when you submit information on our site. This research is usually conducted and analyzed on an aggregate basis, but may also be combined with personal information to help us improve our services.
We may also use information:
To enable you to post and review content based on your current location. To enable you to find content in your proximity. To tag your posts with city-level location information. To tailor the information that we may send or display to you, offer location customization, and send you push notifications and alerts. To personalize and customize your experiences while using our Services, for example, by giving you more content from your favorite sources, showing you less content from sources you have down voted or adjusting the ranking of whistles based on your preferences. To send you notices. To display advertising, including advertising that is targeted to you based on your location, as well as your Whistle activities. To verify your identity and prevent impersonation, spam or other unauthorized or illegal activity. To better understand how users access and use our Services, both on an aggregated and individualized basis, in order to improve our Services and respond to user desires and preferences, and for other research and analytical purposes.
Where Information is Processed
InHerSight is based in the United States. No matter where you are located, you consent to the processing and transferring of your information in and to the U.S. and other countries. The laws of the U.S. and other countries governing data collection and use may not be as comprehensive or protective as the laws of the country where you live. And, your information may be made available to government or law enforcement requests.
Disclosure of Personal Information
You cannot control who views any content you post on Whistle, as it is publicly available. So, if you don’t want to share something publicly, don’t post it.
We may provide your Personal Information to third party service providers and suppliers who work on behalf of or with us to provide you with some of the services and features of the Services and to help us communicate with our Users. However, these service providers and suppliers do not have any independent right to use this information except to help us provide the Services.
We may also share aggregate or de-identified information about users with third parties for marketing, advertising, research or similar purposes.
Choices Regarding Personal Information and Content
We may send you service-related announcements when we believe it is necessary to do so. Generally, you may opt out of these announcements by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
At this time, after you submit content you have posted on the App (including replies) or the Site, you will be unable to change, edit, or delete the information you have provided. We will make available to you your Personal Information in our custody or control upon your written request, to the extent required and/or permitted by law. To request removal of your content, please submit your request to us in writing at email@example.com. We will attempt to fulfill your request within 30 days. InHerSight will not have any liability whatsoever to you for any deletion of your information.When we delete content that we have collected from or about you, it will be deleted from our active databases but may remain in our archives.
How We Protect Your Information
We have put in place reasonable and appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Additionally, we store information you provide us on our secure servers.
Only those authorized employees, contractors, and agents who have a need to know Personal Information in connection with the performance of their services are allowed to access this information. In addition, these individuals and or entities are required to be bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to disciplinary actions, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet their confidentiality obligations. In the unlikely event that we suffer a breach of our security systems and an individual or entity gains unauthorized access to any Personal Information stored on our servers, we will immediately investigate such security breach, and will provide prompt notice to any individual whose Personal Information was affected.
We may send push notifications or alerts to your device. You can deactivate these messages at any time by changing the notification settings on your device or by changing your Whistle settings.
Third Party Analytics
We may use automated devices and applications, included those offered by third parties to evaluate usage of our Services. We also may use other analytic means to evaluate our Services. We use these tools to help us improve our Services, performance and user experiences. The information collected may include unique device identifiers, device manufacturer and operating system, IP address, browser type, session start/stop time, and user activity.

Third Party Ads
We may display ads to you (including in-app ads), and we may target those ads based on your location, your activities, and other criteria (e.g., the time of day). We do not currently respond to do-not-track signals that may be sent from your device. Our Services may contain third party links, including third party integrations. Any access to and use of such links or third party integrations is not governed by this Policy, but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third parties.
Privacy of Minors
We do not intentionally collect or maintain information in the Services from those visitors and Users of the Services who are under 13 years old. You must be at least 18 to use our Services. If you are not at least 18, please do not use our Services or provide any information to us. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we take steps to remove such information from our systems.
